Jan Zöbisch (GER), 2025-26
At the age of 28, Jan Zöbisch discovered his passion for photography when he received a camera as a birthday gift. A year later, he left his position as a sales manager at an international confectionery company to follow his newfound calling. In 2020 he published his first book Streets. Jan Zöbisch specialises in street photography.
He is fascinated by the small, often overlooked moments of everyday life that carry depth or beauty within them. His work is characterised by timeless aesthetics, tranquillity and (analogue) black-and-white photography that emphasises atmosphere, emotion and composition. For him, street photography is more than just an image; it is a reflection of life’s transience and the act of capturing a fleeting moment that will never return.
Wishing to move beyond the spontaneity of street photography, Jan began exploring fashion photography, complementing his ongoing work in the streets. He now collaborates with a range of brands and shows, including London Fashion Week.
As a founding member of Sektor 9000, an artists' collective with a studio based in Trier, he established a venue for art, community, and creative participation in 2024. Works by Jan Zöbisch are represented in the collection of Stadtmuseum Simeonstift Trier.
Through walks past various WW+ projects and locations, Jan created his series The Architecture of Emotions, exploring how architecture is experienced in everyday life: not as the main protagonist, but as the stage for life, encounters and moods. Architecture and people enter into an interactive relationship from which emotions emerge.
