Mélanie Humbert (LUX), 2022-2023

Born in 1989, Mélanie Humbert is a self-taught visual artist based in Luxembourg. Her works are primarily characterized by bold, minimalist, and abstract figures, which are expressed through a wide variety of high-contrast colour concepts and colour blocking. The colours are bright, expressive, and full of life. The majority of the colours are mixed by the artist herself in order to create unique, colourful nuances.

Familiar and ubiquitous figures are created from a new perspective through a strange and at the same time fresh vibe. Mélanie‘s characters communicate with each other, with an insatiable need for free body movements and liberal dynamics.

Mélanie took part in a large number of different exhibitions in 2022, notably with the HFZ artists‘ collective, of which she was a co-founder. In particular, the collaboration with the Concept Store MANALENA had given the artist new inspirations that allowed her to design her art in a completely different form and deliberate herself from conventional frameworks. Her 2022 exhibition took place at Valerius Gallery, where she was chosen, together with nine other young artists, as part of the exhibition “Young Luxembourgish Artists, Vol.2 (YLA)”, and presented eight works.
