Redesign of the pedestrian zone in Esch-sur-Alzette (LUX)

The event organised by WW+ to prepare the competition tender for the redesign of Rue de l'Alzette and its side streets took place on the 23.02.2021 in the town hall.

Together with politicians and specialist planners, a broad consensus was reached with regards to the objectives for the competition participants. Constructive discussions were held during the event on topics such as the creation of spaces for people to meet, linger and move around, the qualities of the public areas, universal access design, the compatible handling of the different types of traffic and the best possible integration of the new plan into the surrounding urban and street spaces. The results of the public participation carried out in 2018 were also taken into account.

The defined objectives cover the topics of open space design, mobility and traffic as well as technical infrastructure and form the basis for the launch of a competition.
