Participation #NeiDikrich, Diekirch (LUX)

The town of Diekirch would like to modernise and redesign its town centre in the coming years. The focus lays on a modern and adapted surface design, as well as the renewal of technical infrastructures.

Due to the particular importance of the town centre for the quality of life and living in Diekirch, it is important to the municipality to involve citizens and visitors in the planning process at an early stage. The broad participation process #NeiDikrich was therefore launched in spring 2024.

The aim was to activate the local knowledge, interests and needs of Diekirch's citizens, employees and shop owners, as well as the the municipal council and the advisory commissions on various topics. Different participation formats were developed for this purpose. These were a combination of analogue (district walk, citizens' workshop, focus workshops & youth participation) and digital participation formats (online participation using questionnaires).

The insights gained during the participatory process will provide valuable input for the future redesign of the centre of Diekirch. We are delighted that so many people have taken part and are looking forward to the next steps in the redesign of the city centre!
