Competition Entry Sports Campus, Berchem (LUX)
Together with witry&witry, we developed a forward-looking sports campus concept as part of the competition for the Berchem Sports Hall. The campus includes a sports and multi-purpose hall, a judo hall, and an airtramp facility, integrated into a green corridor connecting the "Kannerinsel" school campus with the Alzette Valley. This design promotes soft mobility and links public amenities.
Access to the sports hall is via a newly designed forecourt, providing space for gathering, activity, and relaxation. The compact building incorporates the existing heating plant and responds to the triangular shape of the site. A transparent base with an open ground floor creates visual connections and invites visitors inside.
Sustainability was key focus of the project: longevity, reduction instead of consumption (under 55% CO2), and plus-energy performance through photovoltaics are central principles for a resource-positive site.
A warm thank you to witry&witry for the inspiring collaboration on this project.
