Participation Process Masterplan “Am Sand”, Niederanven (LUX)

With the public closing event in June 2025, the participation process for the “Am Sand” master plan in Niederanven was successfully completed. Between September and December 2024, citizens, the municipal council, local business owners, and representatives of institutions were able to contribute their ideas and wishes for the future development of the centre through various formats.

The process began with an informational evening and included a total of four workshops and two neighborhood walks. The idea collection focused on five key thematic areas: the design and amenities of public spaces, diversity of use, the identity and character of the “Am Sand” centre, mobility and accessibility, as well as ecological and climate-related aspects.

The results gathered in the participation process are now being directly incorporated into further planning. They form the basis for the upcoming design competition for the transformation of the centre and will also be taken into account in ongoing and planned projects. For example, a municipal shuttle service (Citybus) connecting the centre with the airport has already been implemented, along with the expansion of the Ruffbus Syrdall service. Additional measures are in preparation, such as a community café with an integrated second-hand shop, which aims to foster intergenerational encounters in everyday life. The insights gained from the participation process will continue to be integrated into future municipal planning efforts.

WW+ looks forward to the next steps in shaping the 'Am Sand' centre, with the the upcoming competition procedure.
