Paolo Gillone (IT), 2023-24
Paolo Gillone, also known as “JINS©”— a name given to him in his youth and later adopted as his artistic name—was born, lives, and works in Italy. As a multimedia artist, Gillone works with a variety of mediums. His murals and large-scale paintings are characterized by vivid and bright colors, while his black and white drawings often cover entire walls and surfaces, creating immersive spaces.
Gillone has transformed galleries, public spaces, nightclubs, sailboats, motorcycles, cars, and even a mobile bar camper into distinctive artworks. In addition to his visual art, Gillone also works with video and cartoons, producing public artworks and site-specific projects. He has been recognized both in Italy and internationally, with exhibitions across Europe, New York City, and Mexico City. He created a promotional cartoon for the Venice Architecture Biennale and produced a 12-episode animated film exploring the Mayan prophecies.
As a creative and illustrator Gillone also worked for the commercial sector, where he has collaborated with prominent brands and companies in advertising. Recently, he has focused on creating animations and videos that utilize innovative languages. One of Gillone's remarkable live performances involved illustrating the rhythm of music in Prokofiev's "Peter and the Wolf" in a theatrical setting. Besides his exhibitions, he has also published several books and exhibition catalogs.
In his collaboration with WW+, Gillone created a unique series of cityscapes titled “Quattro città”, which showcase the four Luxembourgish municipalities Echternach, Esch-sur-Alzette, Hesperange as well as Luxembourg Ville in vibrant colors and playful shapes. This series also features buildings that our office has planned, designed or realized.
