Ariston, Esch-sur-Alzette (LUX)

The "Ariston" as a building in the centre of Esch-sur-Alzette has a special historical and cultural significance for the citizens. On behalf of the city, the existing building will be completely renovated and extensively refurbished in order to reopen as an additional venue for the Escher Theatre in 2022, when Esch will be the European Capital of Culture.

During the renovation, Ariston will retain its original architectural appearance and will be modernised, particularly in the interior. The whole operation will be carried out in dialogue with the "Service des sites et monuments". 

As planned, demolition work began in September and has already been largely completed. Concreting work is currently taking place in the basement. New foundations and supports are being set there, preparations for the new floor slab are being made and new ground pipes laid.
